POETRY EVENINGS:
Purple Patch proudly presents poetry at The Barlow Theatre, just off High Street, Langley near Birmingham. Train from Snow Hill/Moor Street to Langley Green, bus or M5 junction 2. Poetry Wednesbury’s own perform at various venues throughout the year and are to be heard on Lozz’s Black Country Podcast on the internet. You’ll find many new and exciting recordings from the Rooster Studio regularly broadcast there. It’s worth checking out and having a listen.
Regular Poetry Wednesbury meetings presented by Poetry Wednesbury at the old Wednesbury Post Office in Holyhead Road - meetings are at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of every month. Open mic, occasional workshops, relaxed atmosphere - come along and read, listen, chat - soft drinks provided for a modest fee - maybe a little tea/coffee, if we can get a kettle/urn! Directions for Poetry Wednesbury at Wednesbury’s Old Post Office, Holyhead Road
Car Directions: If you come on the motorway, leave the M6 at Junction 9 heading for Wednesbury. Carry on for three quarters of a mile, and you’ll come to a roundabout. Take the first exit (left) and continue down the High Bullen past the bus station to the next roundabout, and take the first exit (left) again. After 100 yards, just past the Police Station, turn right into the car park. The old Post Office is another 50 yards along the road.
If you come from Tipton direction go past Mecca Bingo to the island and turn right. After 100 yards, just past the Police Station, turn right into the car park. The old Post Office is another 50 yards along the road.
If you come from West Bromwich direction keep left at the mini roundabout marked right for the town centre. After 100 yards, turn into the car park on your left, just opposite the new Morrisons superstore. The old Post Office is back 50 yards along the main road.
Public Transport Directions: Get off at Wednesbury Bus Station, walk down to the Holyhead Road exit, then left along the road for about 80 yards to the pedestrian crossing. Cross the road to the old Post Office building.
Supertrams are a very efficient way of getting between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. They are frequent and regular. The stop to get off is Wednesbury, Great Western St. Coming out of the tram station, turn right (straight on, really), up Great Western Street to the main road and then turn right along Holyhead Road for about 80 yards.
